For years, sunny borders were considered the easiest places in the garden. Give a border plenty of sunshine, add a few flowering plants and, with a little watering during dry spells, everything generally looked after itself. Many of us grew up believing that sunshine was always a blessing. I'm not sure that's entirely true anymore. Over recent summers I've found myself looking at gardens rather differently. Periods of prolonged heat have become more common, rainfall often arr
